‘Pelé Penguin leaves the South Pole and journeys to a new and strange world’

When the fish run out in the South Pole, Pelé and his family are forced to leave and head north to Stockholm, where Uncle Fernandez lives. In Stockholm the penguins are different. They are sophisticated city penguins. For Pelé and his family life is strange. Pelé doesn’t fit in. He gets bullied at school because he talks, dresses and eats funny. He cant help but dream of his free life back at the South Pole, and how much better things were there. But when Pelé falls in love with a penguin girl in his class, things begin to look up.

Pele Penguin Comes to Town is the first of two books (more to come) and is written by Kenneth Hedenström, artist and author, who is also doing the animation for this film. Penguins are a frequent motif in Kenneth’s paintings, recognized in both Sweden and abroad.
